A young sales representative working for an operator wondered why the operator was unable to provide customers with data on their own mobile telecommunication expenditure and usage. Customers needed reliable information to support business decisions to manage their mobile telecommunication expenditure, yet the only available information was a “best estimate”, which could easily be disputed.
The only fact that customers could rely on was that their invoices would increase each year- even as unit prices declined. Of course, this created a serious lack of trust between operators and customers. How could an organization possibly make financially-sound business decisions without the appropriate level of information?
The question remained unanswered for a decade. The young sales rep eventually went on to create the tools and modules that power Alekstra today.
Each operator – even within the same country – has its own unique wireless product portfolio, pricing methodology and billing system that is constantly changing. The annual global revenue of all mobile operators combined exceeds $1 trillion. Of this amount, $200 billion is generated by mobile device manufacturers, and $100 billion by network infrastructure providers (both hardware and software). The significant balance is generated and retained by the operators themselves, as gross profit. Alekstra’s goal is to provide a variety of services for managing wireless services to increase cost efficiency and reduce administrative complexity. Alekstra creates value by reducing costs via mobile service plan optimization, consolidated purchasing power, reduction in administrative work, and overall improvement of the quality of mobile service portfolio management. |
United StatesThe United States is Alekstra’s largest and most important single market. Due to the high average cost per user and a regulatory environment that facilitates our access to users’ data, we are able to process a scaleable service model to provide significant cost savings for our clients. GermanyGermany is an undisputed driver of the European economy. For historical reasons, Germany has a high density of PSTN network services that are still in use today. Our Ratemizer™ product portfolio contains a proprietary product to measure wireless network quality. Germany and the U.S. are the top two target countries for this product. United KingdomFor many of our customers, the United Kingdom plays a key role as the gateway between continents. UK universities also facilitate important academic research on the telecommunication industry. Our UK presence places us close to the research and development of theories that impact E.U. telecom regulations. FranceDespite the expansion of the European Union, and the fact that many E.U. countries share a common telecom regulatory framework, many countries still retain their own unique characteristics when it comes to mobile telecommunications – and France is no exception to this. For example, France is one of the few markets in which local service providers (operators) offer contra optimization products to consumers for increasing LSP revenue. Denmark, Finland, Norway and SwedenAlekstra was originally established in Finland, which has one of the highest collective number of mobile users per country. In fact, 50% of the Finnish population now has two wireless devices. Finland is an important hub for the Nordic region because of its leading-edge R&D capabilities and our 95% local market share. |
